Dorset Council councillors have voted to adopt a new Council Plan. The Council Plan 2024-29 sets out the vision for the future Dorset the council wants to see. While the council will continue to deliver these essential services, the Council Plan also sets out the 4 key areas where significant improvement will be made over the next 5 years.

Chief Executive Matt Prosser to leave Dorset Council

The Chief Executive of Dorset Council Matt Prosser has announced that he will be leaving the council in spring 2025 for a new role as Chief Executive of Wellington City Council in New Zealand.

Matt has led Dorset Council for the six years since he was appointed to the role in October 2018, ahead of the council’s formation in 2019

Liberal Democrat’s take control of Dorset Council

The Liberal Democrats have taken control of Dorset Council following the local elections. It is reported that the new administration will review the controversial car parking price increases adopted by the Conservatives.

Extra funding for road maintenance in the Dorchester area

As its annual programme gears up for spring, with extra funding Dorset Council is set to bolster its proactive measures to look after its roads. This includes more pothole repairs, resurfacing and  preventative treatments to manage road condition and maintain highway safety.

New A35 roundabout for proposed North of Dorchester development

A new roundabout on the A35 east of Stinsford is part of the proposed plans for a major development in Dorchester. The link road connecting the A35 and A37 to the north of the town to relieve traffic on the Southern Bypass and on Dorchester’s High Street
