Important Information about the Tourist Information Service

Closing Date for Survey is Tuesday, 11th October 2016

The Dorchester Tourist Information Centre is a vital part of the town’s infrastructure and a consultation over its future has now been launched.

It is clear that there will be changes due to the overall funding cuts the council has to deal with, but the Chamber has consistently said that we believe the town needs a visible and viable TIC.  It’s really important that we all do our bit and take a few minutes to complete the consultation.

As we speak the options appear only to be

  • A move to South Walks House, which is not visible, even if viable for the council.
  • Replacing the existing service with an unstaffed tourist information point.

Neither of these appear to deliver what the county town deserves, I would urge any members who have town centre frontage to consider coming forward so that we may look into any as yet undiscussed options.

If you think you may be able to accommodate some TIC information, please let me know.

Very best wishes
