Thanks to funding we have raised from recycling devices, Dorset Council is relaunching its Digital Doorway scheme to give free devices and data to people who need it.
Dorset Council need your help to ensure we’re reaching the people in Dorset who are currently digitally excluded.
What do we mean by digitally excluded?
Digital exclusion means anyone who cannot easily access everything they need online because of circumstances beyond their control. This could be a job seeker who is finding it difficult to do online job applications as they only have a smart phone and cannot afford a laptop. It could be an expectant mother who cannot access all the online maternity services as she
does not have a device. Or it could be a person who is reluctant to try new technology because they are older and digital could provide a means to connect with family, friends and healthcare services. The digitally excluded are those who are missing out on everything the 21st century world offers and most of us take for granted.
We want to ensure we’re targeting the most in need people – and this is where you come in.
We would like you to refer anyone who you think would benefit from a device and, if needed, free data and digital skills support.

staff/stakeholders.
How do people apply?
Individuals cannot apply themselves; they must be referred by a professional. There is an online form for professionals to refer clients/customers/patients. A resident that hears about
the scheme and would like to be considered, should ask a professional that knows them to apply on their behalf.
