As part of King Charles III’s Coronation celebrations, he has chosen to use his Coronation weekend as an opportunity to highlight volunteering and the important part it plays in our communities.
It seemed an ideal opportunity for Dorchester based homecare provider, Everycare (Wessex) Ltd, to embrace THE BIG HELP OUT initiative by launching their own volunteering programme called “Friends of Everycare”.
Lorrie Truelove, Registered Manager and Director of Everycare said
“I am very passionate about achieving innovative ways to reduce social isolation of the clients that we support. The numerous social events Everycare have hosted over the last few years have been very successful in bringing clients together in a relaxed atmosphere outside their home environments. From the feedback that we receive, it is certainly something that is enjoyable and appreciated by those clients who have attended.
“This led me to think about having a volunteer team for any clients who may wish to have someone visit them on a social basis. We have been working on this project for a number of months to ensure that we get it right and The King’s Coronation seemed an ideal time to actually launch it. Friends of Everycare are all former staff members who have been “persuaded” to help with this initiative! This is great because the “friends” are very well known to us and are aware of our expectations and the high standards we set.
“The team of friends will be managed by Sue Westlake, the daughter of a client we looked after for a number of years and I am hugely grateful to Sue and all our former staff for supporting this scheme”.
