Dorset Health Village Orthopaedic Clinic are asking for volunteers at the new facility in South Walks House in Dorchester.
Its purpose is to clear the backlog of outpatient orthopaedic appointments caused by the pandemic to benefit many hundreds of patients from across the County. Patients will be invited to attend orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and physiotherapy appointments at the Centre, taking pressure off Dorset County Hospital.
They will also be able to access a wealth of health and wellbeing information and advice while they are there.
The clinic will operate Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and will cater for around 300 appointments per day. In order to manage this, we need a team of volunteers to greet patients on arrival and direct them efficiently and safely through the Clinic’s one-way system. Most patients will attend for between 15-30 mins.
Each shift will only be a couple of hours plus 15 mins for inductions, handovers etc. Volunteer roles are all indoors; refreshments will be available in a dedicated staff canteen area.
