Dorchester Chamber event changes following PM’s announcement
President of Dorchester Chamber, Peter Greenaway said this evening (14th June):
“I am sure no one needs me to update you about the extension of the phase 3 restrictions announced by the Prime Minister yesterday evening. Whilst it was not a surprise, I think we are acutely aware of the additional pressure this will place on businesses particularly in the hospitality area for another few weeks. Let’s hope that the Delta variant will be able to be controlled by this action and we will be able to return to normality in 4 weeks’ time and not face a more severe lockdown in the autumn.
“Whilst I know this is a minor consideration and there are far more important things businesses and people are dealing with, it does mean that we will not be able to hold face to face events for the Chamber as we had hoped during early July.
- The event to meet existing and potential new members at The Duchess of Cornwall on 5th July will now be re-arranged
- The July breakfast on 13th July will now be a virtual event via Zoom. Details of the contents for the breakfast will be circulated shortly.
- I think it is likely that the next meeting with our MP Chris Loder on 23 July will also be held online but we will confirm that as soon as we know.
“We will look to arrange an event when we can do so to celebrate being able to meet up again – but of course that will be dependent on when we are able to do so. We will keep the website updated and send out emails as and when we know more ourselves.
“In the meantime, please do let the Executive Committee know if there is anything we can do to support you or your business through this additional lockdown and if you just need a chat”.
