Al Molo Dorchester Celebrate 2nd Anniversary in Winning Style
Al Molo Dorchester is an award-winning Italian restaurant based in the heart of Dorchester. At their previous restaurant in Weymouth, co-owners Giuseppe Vannucci and Tim Newton achieved national recognition from the Italian Chamber of Commerce with the “Marchio Ospitalità Italiana” seal of quality award and in 2021 took the coveted Gold Award for ‘Restaurant of The Year’ at the South West England Tourism Excellence Awards.
This year however just before celebrating two years in Dorchester on 15 July, Al Molo has been awarded their first AA Rosette for Culinary Excellence plus two awards in the local Dorchester & Poundbury Business Awards in May 2024. The first award for the Family Business of the year and secondly for the Dining Award.
Tim Newton, Co-owner of Al Molo said “We really are enormously proud and pleased to receive the awards and to get a visit from the AA inspector and a rosette was just the icing on the cake. Giuseppe and I would really like to thank our team as we could not achieve what we do without them. Our family move to Dorchester is certainly proving to be an excellent choice as we love living in the town. It is quite different from Weymouth’s seafront, but we love meeting new customers and greeting our regulars who travel from Weymouth to see us – we really have the best of both towns.”
Al Molo relocated to High West Street Dorchester in July 2022 after Giuseppe suffered a health scare during the covid pandemic which led to the consolidation of their home life and business, to new premises at 6 High West Street, Dorchester.
Many loyal customers followed them to Dorchester and soon many new customers discovered the authentic, delicious Italian food and wine that was now available to them. The Judge Jeffreys 17th century building was lovingly and completely renovated by the Tim and Giuseppe before the restaurant opened.
The business now employs around twelve people, has eighty restaurant covers and offers lunch and dinner service 7 days a week. Al Molo Dorchester has a wide range of delicious food available across their a la carte, set lunch and dinner menu, plus a ten course Tasting Menu.
